On Nov. 20, 1943- Margaret and Michael celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.. The Toronto Daily Star, Society Highlights, page 20, Tues. Nov. 1943 had this article:

KING AND QUEEN OFFER ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS--- Mr. and Mrs. Michael McDonnell Emerson Ave, entertained at a reception Sunday, on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. Their daughters Mrs. Joseph Kelly, Hydro Glen, and Mrs. James O'Connor, Rathburn, assisted in receiving. Another daughter Mrs. James Flood, Hearst was unable to attend. presiding at the tea table, were Mrs. Neil Hayes, Mrs. Martin Kelly, Mrs. Frank Cleary. Tea assistants were granddaughters of the couple and included Mrs. Joseph McGowan, Mrs. Leo Flood, Mrs. Melvin Mangan, and Miss Addie Crosby. Among the many messages of congratulations was one from the King and Queen. Mr. & Mrs. McDonnell have two grandsons in the armed service, Pilot Officer Mac Flood, RCAF, and Pilot Officer Thomas Flood RCAF. Mr. McDonnell was born in Highland Creek, and his wife in Brechin. They were married at Uptergrove were they resided for a number of years. They have lived in Toronto for the last 35 years. They have four great grand children.
