Margaret HALDANE, daughter of Robert, married James Farquhar GORDON 22dec1804, Edinburgh (IGI). Margaret Haldane, only daughter of Robert Haldane, marr J.F. Gordon, 24dec1804 at Edinburgh (Caledonian Mercury). Margaret Haldane (d. 29sep1849) married James Farquhar Gordon (d. jan1844) in 1805 and had 3 sons and 6 daughters (Burke's landed gentry, 2001). Margaret Oswald Haldane (24jul1787-29sep1849) married in 1804 James Farquhar Gordon (8aug1772-jan1844) (carmichael.world).

Gordon and only daughter of late Robert Haldane of Auchingray, d. 29sep1849 at Funtington, nr. Chichester (Glasgow Herald). Margaret Haldane Gordon d. 4th qtr 1849 at Westbourne, Sussex (includes Funtington) (bmd).

Margaret and James had children: John (17oct1810-27dec1848 Moolton, India), Camilla (1812-95), Robert (1816-43), James (1818-97, married Thomazine Crauford), Isabella (1820-94, married 1875 Alexander Oswald Mitchell), Georgina (1821, married H.J. Walker) (carmichael.world). The children were b. at Edinburgh; James was probably James Farquhar Gordon (IGI). Major John Gordon (HM 60th Rifles, son of late James F. Gordon, grandson of late Robert Haldane of Auchingray) was killed at siege of Mooltan 27mar1849 (Caledonian Mercury). Camilla Haldane Gordon (d. 1895, reg. Edinburgh, National Probate Calendar) lodged at London in 1881 (census). Will of Camilla Haldane Gordon (d. 13jan1895, Mentone, France), daughter of late James Farquhar Gordon, WS, Edinburgh (scotlandspeople). Margaret Haldane Gordon, who survived her husband nearly 6 yrs, had 3 sons and 6 daughters, among them, Major John and Robt Haldane (both d. unm in her lifetime), Rev James Gordon (marr Thomazine Crawford), 3 daughters d. in infancy, 3 survived (Memoirs of the lives of Robert Haldane, p. 604). James Gordon married Miss Crawford but had been in army (Glasgow Herald, 1897); it is questionable whether he was a reverend.

In 1841 the following Gordon family (b. Scotland, independent) and servants were at Leamington Priors, Warwickshire: Margret (1788), Emmilla (1816), Isabella (1821), Gorgiana (1822), Robert (1816) (census).
