From “Memoirs of the lives of Robert Haldane of Airthrey etc.”. Robert Haldane of Airthrey (28feb1764 Cavendish Sq., London-dec1842) was son of Capt James Haldane and his 1st cousin Katherine Duncan (daughter of Alexander Duncan of Lundie and Helen Haldane), who married 15dec1762. Robert Haldane married, apr 1786, Katherine Cochrane Oswald (aged 18); their marriage lasted 57 yrs (p. 46). Robert’s daughter was Margaret Haldane. Katharine Cochrane Oswald, daughter of George, married Robert HALDANE 22apr1786 at Renfrew (Vital Records). Robert Haldane, 3rd of Airthrey, later of Auchengray, Lanarkshire (d. 12dec1842), married (24apr1785) Catherine Cochrane (d. 14jun1843), daughter of George Oswald (Burke’s landed gentry, 2001). The present University of Stirling is located on the land of Airthrey Estate (web). Will of Robert Haldane of Auchingray, res. Walker St., Edinburgh, reg 1843 Edinburgh (scotlandspeople). In 1841 Robert Halden (1764 England, proprieter), Cathrine Halden (1769 outside county) and servants were at Auchengray, New Monkland, Lanarkshire (census). |
