QUAY 3 "Margaret Morrison, wife of Murdock Morrison, departed this life at the home on Frank Street early Monday morning after a lingering illness, aged 72 years. Having been a resident of Stanley for 23 years, she was one of the best known and best beloved of all Stanley pioneer women.
Margaret Duffy was born near Toronto, Canada in 1844. She was married to Edward Grogan at Erie, PA in 1870, and to this union ten children were born, eight of whom survive, viz; Edward, Thomas, Peter, William , Hohn, and Charles, all of whom live in Milwaukee except Charles, who lives in Chicago, and two daughters, Mrs. Emmerton of Bloomer, and Mrs. Jas P. Burns, of Portland, Oregon. After the death of Mr. Grogan she was remarried to Murdock Morrison, who survives her, in 1893.
The family moved to Stanley about 1890, and the splendid character of the boys and girls whom she raised to manhood and womanhood proves Mrs. Morrison to have been a woman of unusual strength of character. She has played well her part as wife and mother, and is entitled to the highest honors which can be accorded to woman.
The funeral was held from St. Mary's Church Friday morning, the six sons acting as pall bearers, and her remains were laid to rest in Forest Hill in the presence of a large concourse of old neighbors and friends."
