Previously, they resided in Brock Township, where on 29 March, 1842 Patrick and Ann purchased the North West 1/4 of LOT 13 CON 7 from Mr. and Mrs. Pangman of Toronto. Patrick and Ann sold their Brock land to John O'DONNELL of Brock in 1842. Patrick and Ann were enumerated in the 1852 census f the United Townships of Mara and Rama. As recollected by family descendants, this DUFFY family joined the numbers of those who removed in the 1870s and 1880s, to repeat the pioneer experience in the American west, where their descendants live today.

Likely Patrick came to Canada by 1840.
