1. SAMUEL ZARTMAN. [born February 23, 1803]
Samuel learned the trade of his father [blacksmith], and in 1828 moved to Jamestown, Greene county, Ohio. Before leaving his native place he married Margaret Crumrine on February 12, 1824. To them were born eleven children, the first two in Pennsylvania and the rest in Ohio: 1. Etizabeth Ann Mariah, b. June 14, 1825. 2. Harriet, b. September 26, 1827. 3. James Winans, b. April 26, 1829. 4. Eliza, b. September 18, 1831. 5. Adelia, b. October 20, 1833. 6. Miranda, b. May 10, 1836. 7. Samuel Hodges, b. June 12, 1838. 8. William Isaac, b. December 22, 1840; died July 14, 1841. 9. Charles Henry. b. December 11, 1842. 10. Daniel Edgar, b. December 5, 1847. 11. Essannia Hester, b. August 26, 1852. Samuel, the father of this family, died July 31, 1856; the mother, Margaret, died February 2, 1875. They are buried in Jamestown, O. ... The entire Samuel Zartman family was brought up in the Methodist Episcopal Church, and to it belong their grandchildren and great grandchildren almost without an exception.
