Facts and Events
Major "Marian" Lamar was killed at the Battle of Paoli and since those killed were buried there it is reasonably assumed he is one of them. See Sons of the American Revolution magazine, Fall 2000 Volume XCV, page 7 and "The Battle of Paoli" by Thomas J. McGuire. Upon the founding of The Society of the Cincinnati, Major Mareen (Marien) Lamar was made an original member. The Major is my many times Great-uncle. Tom Lamar Coughlin. The book "History of Frederick County, Maryland": From the Earliest ..., Volume 2, By Thomas John Chew Williams, Folger McKinsey mistakenly describes the name of the battle location as being at Parle Tavern instead of Paoli (a well know town in Pennsylvania, the battlefield is actually now in the town next door, Malvern, PA)). The name "Parle Tavern" appears to be a simple mistake, probably interpreted from bad hand written notes. References
