MALONA JANE JOHNSON was born on October 30, 1891, in Garretts Bluff, Texas, the daughter of Wiley Elijah and Virginia Lee "Smith" Johnson. Around 1900 she moved with her family to Antlers, Indian Territory (OK). In May, 1909, in Antlers, OK, she married Gates William Carlisle. They had seven children; Johnson William; Mauvereen Gates; Katherine Elizabeth; Adred Malone; Gates William Jr; Bennett; and Etta Mae, died in early childhood. Malona Jane "Johnson" Carlisle died on April 6, 1977. She is buried in the Finley Cemetery (NE of the town of Antlers on state highway 271), Finley, Pushmataha County, Oklahoma.

Mrs Malona Carlisle - ANTLERS Okla - Mrs Malona Jane Carlisle 85 of Antlers died Wednesday in Pushmataha County Hospital. Services are set for Friday at the Finley Church of Christ, Charles Wall Jr will officiate, Mills Funeral Home will make burial in Finley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 on Thursday. Born in Caddo on Sept 30 1891, Mrs Carlisle was the daughter of Wiley and Virginia Lee Johnson. She had lived in the Antlers community most of her life. Survivors include three sons: Johnson W. Carlisle of Knob Noster, Gates Williams Carlisle of Pineville, and Bennette Carlisle of Fort Worth, three daughters: Mauvereen Copeland of Antlers, Catherine Helm of Antlers, and Adred Tucker, one sister Mrs Myrtle Watson of Little Rock, 10 grand children, 18 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
