    Magdalena Hassinger was a clean, neat respectable lady.  She had an older child (Magdalena) out of wedlock and then later married Ludwig Schatzinger.  They had a daughter, Hedwig, together.  Magdalena seemed to have little respect for her husband and said that he was lazy and squandered her family's fortune.  Magdalena's older daughter Magdalena and Hedwig did not have a close relationship due to the large age difference and family situation.  As a grandmother, Magdalena scarred Klara who thought she looked like a witch.  Magdalena also suffered from asthma most of her life.
