Obituary LYNWOOD L. MCHATTEN SR. MASARDIS - Lynwood L. McHatten, Sr.,64, died Jan. 25, 1984, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Oct. 6, 1919, at Castle Hill, the son of Ervin and Margaret Jane (Littlefield) McHatten. He worked as a state potato inspector for three years; was classroom teacher for the towns of Washburn, Perham, Chapman, Masardis and Ashland; was a migratory program teacher for S.A.D. No. 32 and for 10 years was the elementary supervisor for S.A.D. No. 32, a total of 32 years in the field of education. He was a member of the Masardis Congregational Church, U.C.C.; a deputy sheriff and a member of the Aroostook County Sheriff`s Association; a member of the Senior Citizen`s Club of Ashland; a member of the Ashland Area Teacher`s Association, a member of the Maine Teacher`s Association and the National Education Association and a member and officer of Pioneer Lodge No. 72, AF & AM. He is survived by his wife, Hazel C. (Cain) McHatten of Masardis; three sons, Lynwood L. Jr of Ashland, John M. of Searsport and Clifford R. McHatten of Augusta; one brother, Clifford R. McHatten of Presque Isle; one sister, Lola M. DeLong of Presque Isle; one grandson, Matthew R. McHatten and one granddaughter, Marcey Lynn McHatten, both of Ashland; a beloved niece, Dorothy Lavway of Presque Isle; several other nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Graves Funeral Home, 7-9 p.m. Thursday and at the Advent Christian Church, Ashland, 7-9 p.m. Friday and 1-2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at the Church 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Raymond Taber officiating. Spring interment will be in the Masardis Municipal Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the church or charity of one`s choice. |
