Obituary, The Lima News, Lima, Ohio, Tuesday, March 7, 1905
Mrs. Lydia Herring, widow of Penrose Herring, died at her old homestead, a mile northwest of Allentown, yesterday, at the advanced age of 69 years. She was born in Perry township and had lived on the homestead for fifty years. Her husband preceded her to the grave about 12 years ago. She leaves nine children, a daughter, Mrs. James Spicer, being a resident of Lima. The funeral has been set for Wednesday at 10 a. m., sun time, at the Allentown United [Brethren] church, Rev. Swords officiating. The body will be buried in Greenlawn cemetery.
