Daily Times-News, The Friday, March 29, 1968 The man was identified as LUTHER Wilson PAYNE, 55, of 1006 Kilby St. He was found at his residence by his son yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock hanging in a hallway, police said. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Eli Payne and Roxio Herring PAYNE and was the husband of Beulah PAYNE PAYNE. He owned and operated PAYNE Seamless Hosiery Mill before retiring two and one-half years ago due to illness. He was a member of Mt. Herman Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Lewis Wilson PAYNE of Rt. 3, Graham; four sisters, Mrs.. George W. PAYNE of Rt. 1, Graham, Mrs.. Mattie P. Howell of Tampa, Fla., Mrs.. Jim Jenkins and Mrs.. James Johnson, both of Burlington; three brothers, George PAYNE I Clyde Payne of Burlington and Dr Harvey A. PAYNE of Bennettsville, S. C and one grandchild. Final rites will be held Sunday afternoon at o'clock at Mt. Herman Methodist Church. Visitation will start tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. The family will be at the home of Mrs.. Payne's sister, Mrs.. LUTHER THOMPSON of 1246 Long St .
