95-Year-Old Lundy Moore is Honored with a Picnic on Father's Day

Lundy R. Moore, age 95 of Route 3, Elizabeth, was honored on Father's Day June 16 with a picnic and reunion at Hughes Cabin on Slate Creek. Following the picnic at noon, the group played volleyball and horseshoes.

This was also a special reunion for two recent Parkersburg South High School graduates. Darren Moore, who will leave the first of July for training at West Point in New York, and Randy Moore, who will be attending Virginia Tech in Virgina this fall,

Attending were: the honoree, Lundy R. Moore, Carl and Virgina Moore, Dale and Joa Moore, Rich, Darren, and Susan Moore, Heath Grogon, Curtis Moore, Randy, Craig, and Cristie Moore.

Lundy Ray Moore, 97, of Route 3, Elizabeth, died Wednesday evening in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospitol [Parkersburg].

He was born in the Limestone Hill area of Wirt County, and spent his adult life as a farmer in the State Creek Community. He was a member of the Slate Chapel United Methodist Church where he served in a number of leadership postions.

He is survived by three sons, Carl Moore of Washington, Kenneth Moore of Parkersburg, and Glen Moore of Elizabeth; two daughters, Ruth Hughes of Belpre and Ruby Matheny of Mineral Wells; two half-brothers, Harry Knotts of Elizabeth and Walter Knotts of Belpre; three half-sisters, Freda Davis, Lyda Dent, and Nedra Adams of Parkersburg; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Boice Moore, in 1973; and one daughter, Garnet West; one half-brother and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Franklin Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Danny McVey officiating, with burial in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9p.m. today.
