Carl Raymond Moore, 76, of Rt 3, Washington, died August 17 at his residence followin a brief illness [diagnosed as cancer].

He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late Lindy R. and Clara S. Boice Moore. He was a U.S. Army veern of World War II and retired after driving street cars and buses in Parkersburg for 25 years. and school buses for the Wood County Board of Education for 13 1/2 years. He worked as a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the VFW, Slate Chapel United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, and attended the Lubeck United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Gates Moore; three sons, Dale W. Moore, Curtis R. Moore, and Roger L. Moore, all of Washington; two brothers, Kenneth Moore of Parkersburg and Glen Moore of Slate; two sisters, Ruth Hughes of Slate and Ruby Matheny of Mineral Wells; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Garnet West.

Services were August 20 at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Gregory Godwin and the Rev. Clifford Phillips officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens [in Parkersburg].
