Mrs. Frank Bryant, 22 Sheffield Road, Roslendale, Mass.

My dear Mrs. Bryant;

Through Mrs. Clara M. Reinhert of Akron, Ohio, we have received your name and address, and are happy to inform you that the name of your sister, Mrs. E. C. Walters, now appears on the official list as being interned in Santo Tomas, which mean that you may write to her. We are enclosing herewith a copy of the address, together with censorship regulations, and sincerely trust your communication will get through in good time.

Also it is now possible for the nearest relative of Mrs. Walters to send one cablegram, and if you will go to your local chapter of the Red Cross they will give you all further particulars concerning this message.

We regret that we have no further information for you at this time except to say that from what little we have been able to learn, we understand that all internees are being very humanely and fairly treated by the Japanese.

Sincerely yours Mrs. H. M. Cavender Secretary

Notes from family history provided by Sandy Holmes 1/3/07 Luella was sent to be interned at Santo Tomas University concentration camp for 3 years until 1945. She used to tell great stories like when the radio had codes on it (Morse Code), such as better Layte than never. The internees would laugh with joy and their captors were really confused. It was a tearjerker when she told of McArthurs return to rescue them just before the Japanese were to set the camp on fire. They had oil or gas tanks surrounding the camp. But McArthur et all came with flags flying while the internees chanted excitedly "The stars they're ours. The stars they're ours.!"
