DEATH: Notes from family history provided by Sandy Holmes 1/3/07 Charles was living with daughter Luella Walters in the Philippines when he died at his home on Calle Herran on July 26 1938, age 70, he died of a possible stroke. He had come to the Philippines ten years previously. During that time he was connected with the Commercial Pacific Cable Company, EM Bachrack Co, and Globe Wireless from which he resigned from due to failing health. Recd. From Mrs. Sandy Holmes 1/10/2007 Funeral Services for Knight Set Will Be Held At 5 P.M. Today At Elks Lodge Funeral services for Charles D. Knight, who died at his home on Calle Herran on July 26, will be held at 5 o'clock this afternoon at the Elks Lodge on Dewey Boulevard. Burial will be in the Elks plot at Cemeterio del Norte. The deceased, a native of Buffalo, New York, was 73 years old at the time of his death. He came out to the Philippines ten years ago and during that time was connected with the Commercial Pacific Cable Co., E. M. Bachrach Co., and Globe Wireless, from which he resigned a year ago because of ill health. Mr. Knight's only relative in the Islands is a daughter, Mrs. E. C. Walters, who arrived from Davao yesterday. Other relatives are; a daughter Mrs. Frank Bryant of Roslandale, Mass.; and two sons Charles L. and Francis C. Knight of Brooklyn, New York. The honorary pallbearers for the funeral will be Sam Wilson, Howard M. Cavender, Jack George, Alex Bachrach, Dean Conrad, and J. A. Boyes. Music will be furnished by a quartet under the direction of N. R. Baugh. OBITUARY: Funeral Services for our Departed Brother Charles Dunham Knight were held in the Lodge Room, Thursday Aug. 4th at 5 P. M. All officers were present, except the Esteemed Loyal Knight and the Esquire. The former's station was occupied by Brother E. Byron Ford P.E.R. and the latter's by Brother J. B. McPherson. A mixed quartet, Mr. Boomer, Mrs. Kreutz, Mr. Kreutz and Mr. Shuman, accompanied on the piano by N. R. Baugh, provided music. Surrounding the casket was a great profusion of beautiful flowers, tokens of friendship and remembrance from Lodge, the Exalted Ruler, the officers and his many other friends. The simple ceremony was impressively conducted by Exalted Ruler Hubert MacGowan and Chair officers. The pall-bearers were Brothers H. M. Cavender and S. M. Wilson, and Messr. Jack George, Dean Conrad, Alexander Bachrach and J. A. Boyes. The Cortege left for the Cemeterio at 5:30 and the simple grave-side service in the Elks Plot was conducted by the Exalted Ruler and the officers.
