Deceased was a former resident of Yamhill County, and many residents of this county will remember his generous deeds and kind hospitality. He was a kind and loving father and an honest, upright citizen. He had been a member of the Christian church for over 47 years. Mr. Galloway was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, October 15th, 1829. He was married to Lucinda Lowe, December 20th, 1849, who died in April 1852, leaving him with two small children. He came west to the gold fields of California in the summer of 1853. On October 1857, he was united in marriage with Harriet Schooling. In the fall of 1859 he and his family came to Oregon, settling in Linn County, where, in March 1864, his beloved companion was laid to rest, leaving him with three small children, who survive him as follows: Mrs. J.M. Kees, of Ione, Oregon, Mrs. D. Stoutenburg, and Mrs. J. Versteeg, of Wheatland. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.L. Swift, after which the remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends and relatives."
