    Lois (Hatfield) Chase, 94, of Bedford, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at her son's residence.

    Born June 22, 1915, in Needmore, she was the daughter of Joel and Laura (Fields) Hatfield. She married Layne Sowder on July 20, 1935 and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1984. She later married Paul Chase on March 26, 1988 and he died on January 20, 2002. She retired in 1984 after working twenty-seven years as a teller for the Bedford National Bank. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford and a Volunteer Pink Lady with the Dunn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

    Survivors include one son, Mike Sowder and wife, Yvonne "Dolly" Sowder of Bedford; one step-son, Frank Chase and wife, Eva of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Sowder; one step-daughter-in-law, Annette Chase; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son, Don Sowder; one sister, Leonna Clampitt; four brothers, Vestal, Vaughn, John and Harland Hatfield; one step-son, Roger Chase.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, July 27th from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
