LILLIAN CHOATE Lillian was born in Golden City, Mo. on October 6, 1922. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2010, after achieving her 88th birthday. Born into the farming family of Lem and Fannie Cowan, she was the youngest of their six children. Moving with her parents to California during WWII to work in the shipyards, she met and married H.V. "Joe" Collins. Some years later, she took the job that would become her career as a psychiatric technician caring for "her children" at the Porterville State Hospital. Some years after the death of Joe, she met and married the man who would become her soul mate, Willard Choate. They were often seen traveling the country in their RV on vacation or to woodcarver shows, where Willard carved and Lillian was in charge of sales. After Willard's death, Lillian moved to Fresno where her two sons live. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Collins, and his wife Leanore, Steve Collins, and his wife Fran, and their daughter Katherine. A Memorial Service will be held in the GL Johnson Chapel at Peoples Church, where Lillian was a regular member, on Friday, October 22, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following.
