James married 1st 1689 Lilias CAMPBELL of Northwoodside (possibly 1675-1689) (Latter Day Saints). Lilias (ca. 1675-1709) was the only child of Robert Campbell of Northwoodside (d. jun1694), dean of Guild in Glasgow (stirnet); Lilias was daughter of Katherine Napier, 2nd daughter of John Napier of Kilmahew, Dunbartonshire (Old country houses of the old Glasgow gentry). Lilias Campbell was christened 26nov1674 at Glasgow, daughter of Robert Campbell and Katherine Naper (Latter Day Saints). The Misses Dunlop of Tolcross House lent a portrait of James Dunlop, 3rd of Garnkirk (d. 1719) to the Old Glasgow Exhibition 1894; James was a lawyer, Burgess of Glasgow 1708, who married (1) 1689 Lilias, daughter of Robert Campbell of Northwoodside and Katherine Napier, and (2) Mary Douglas. They also lent a portrait of Lilias Campbell (d. 1709, aged 34), who married at the age of 14 and had 16 children (cat). A portrait of Katherine Napier or Campbell (d. 1678), 2nd daughter of John Napier of Kilmahew, who married 1673 Robert Campbell, was lent by Miss Findlay, Newton House, Millerhill (cat). References
