This he found in the Los Angeles Co Library in December 1993. The Howard Story by Lewis Edward Howard, April 17, 1981, Topeka, KS Lewis D. Howard, married Catharine Cynthia (Kate) Cade, daughter of Josephus and Martha Ann (Harsh) Cade in Quenemo, KS in 1872. Seven children were born to them. 1. Charles Ellsworth; 2. Laura (deceased in childhood); 3. John Edward; 4. Frank Benjamin; 5. Walter DeWitt; 6. Chester Curtis; 7. Fred Lewis. His land was in Section 32, Township 13 S, Range 20 E, formerly owned by W. C. McClintock. On March 10, 1872, he was married in Osage County, KS to Kate Cade, a member of a pioneer family. Their children were Charles, John Edward, Frank, Walter, Chester & Fred. Mr. Howard was active in church and community affairs. A grandson, Lloyd C. Howard, one of the trustees of Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church, is engaged in farming in Section 32, operating 120 acres, devoted to grain and stock. He was born in Washtenaw Co, MI on August 22, 1849 and moved to Kansas with his parents in 1857. He commenced farming on his own account in 1879. He was married in Osage County, KS on March 10, 1872 to Miss Kate Cade, a member of one of the pioneer families. They have 3 children, Charles, Edward & Frank. |
