Death? probably Carbondale, Jackson Co., Illinois, United States

From Patricia Prickett Hickin: "In the early 1870s, she attended college in Weston, Lewis County, WV; became an artist and teacher, never married and probably lived and died in Illinois. (Her grandmother Hannah Bailey Jackson’s brother - the urbane and hospitable Minter Bailey Jr. [1799-1866, m. Sarah Bastable] had owned and operated the Bailey House in Weston-it was probably the most renowned hotel in that part of the state before the Civil War). Lelia [“Kate”] was probably living in Illinois at the time of her death, which is unknown. She died some time after ca 1900, the exact year and even decade are unknown. She must have had a somewhat stern disposition because her nephews and nieces did not especially enjoy her visits, whereas they adored her fun-loving younger sister “Aunt Nellie.” [SOURCES: Alexandria, VA, Gazette, PPH Recollections of stories told by MJ Prickett, Jr. and siblings; Roy Bird Cook, "History of the Old Bailey House" Weston, 1930; "Lewis Co Historical Souvenir Book", pp 22-23.
