He married a widow (Kirsten Mathea Abrahamsdatter), the daughter of Abraham Nielsen Bergan who was called “Bergan-kongen” (i.e. the king of Bergan). Kirsten Mathea and her first husband owned a farm under Bergan called Huset. Christen Halvorsen bought this farm in 1878 for 4200 Norwegian kroner. This is the same farm as our great-great-great-great-great-grandfather (Iver Larsen Bergan) owned from 1731 to 1776.

I have also found that your great-grandfathers’ second wife took over the farm “Huset under Bergan” in 1903 after her husbands’ death. Unfortunately, this I have not been able to confirm. I have been searching in the old “Church Books” of Melum both for 1902 and 1903 without finding his name.
