    Former Area Resident Dies In Florida

    Kenneth Guy Van Blarcom, 78, of Oak Park, Lady Lake, Florida passed away Saturday, October 7, 1989 at Florida Medical Center North in Orlando, having been a patient there in ICU for a week. He was born in Sunfield Township December 25th, 1910, the son of Guy and Bertha (Gorman) Van Blarcom. He was a graduate of Vermontville High School. He was married to Theresa Merriam on August 30th, 1932. They farmed in the Vermontville area a few years, then moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he worked at construction for some time, later becoming a railroad engineer, from which he was retired. they have lived in Florida since 1977, where they became members of the Lady Lake United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna Coleman. Survivors include his wife, Theresa; a daughter and son-in-law, Helene (Joan) and Arnie Puckett of Hawthorne; a brother, Claude of Vermontville; 4 sisters, Josephine Cates of Charlotte, Zelna Rose of Pontiac, Edith Benedict and Mabel Booher of Vermontville; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 9, 1989 at Page-Theus Chapel in Leesburg with the Rev. Ralph E. Rivers officiating. Entombment in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Wildwood. Pallbearers were Leon R. Rose, Leon J. Rose, Harold Benedict, Claude Van Blarcom, Arnie Puckett and Don Granlund. Memorial donations are to be used toward their church building fund for a planned addition. Michigan relatives who attended the services are Mr. and Mrs. Leon R. Rose of Pontiac who are visiting in Florida awhile, Harold and Edith Benedict, Claude Van Blarcom, Jo Cates, and Mabel Booher.
