KENNETH DEWITT JACKSON Graveside services for Kenneth Dewitt Jackson, 86, formerly of Gillette, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in the Little Big Horn National Cemetery in Crow Agency, Mont., with the Rev. Fabian Fehring officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo.

Mr. Jackson, of Banner, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at the Johnson County Health Care Center in Buffalo. He was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Columbia City, Ind., to Heber and Susie Jackson, where he grew up and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1939. In December 1942, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Rhineland and Central Europe during World War II, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Indiana.

In 1948, he married Marjorie Burke in Yuma, Ariz., and they eventually made their home in Gillette, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. His wife died in September 1968 and he continued living in Gillette. He lived in Longmont, Colo., for a short time before moving back to Gillette. After his retirement in 1982, he built a house in Banner. He finished the house in 1984 and continued to live there until his death. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid woodworker and cabinet maker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the mountains.

Mr. Jackson is survived by two sons, Burke Jackson of Cheyenne and Jerry Jackson of Grand Junction, Colo.; one daughter, Sharon Mathews of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Martha; and one brother, Benjamin. Donations may be made in his memory to the Fort Phil Kearney Museum in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, WY 82834.

Jerry, his son, states "Dad was also married and divorced two more times before his death. Neither marriage resulted in children. I don't have many details."
