¶N01-02 KENNERLY5 DOBYNS (DANGERFIELD4, SAMUEL3, CHARLES2, DANIELI) (from ¶N01-01) was born about 1821 in Montgomery Co VA. His name was variously spelled Kinnley, Kenaly and Kinnerly. He married (1st) Elizabeth [or Esther] Groseclose on 24 Mar 1854 in Johnson Co IN. They moved to Story Co IA. His first wife was born about 1828 and died about 1872 at age 44, after spending much of 12 years in the Iowa Hospital for the Insane in Mt Pleasant IA. He then married (2nd) in 1872 Mary Eliza Kelso, a full-blooded Cherokee, who had been his housekeeper and helped raise his children by the first marriage. About 1875 they moved from Iowa to Texas. In 1888 Mary Eliza and Kennerly died the same day of yellow fever. Many of his orphaned children left for the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, to work on the cattle ranch of Holmes Willis.Children of the first marriage wereJohn Jacob6 Dobyns, born about 1857 in Story Co IA.
