1. This is the individual known to the Peterson family as Carrie, step-sister to Hanna, August, Bengta and Karolina. She was Johanna's daughter by a previous liaison in Sweden.

2. Carrie Peterson, according to York County vital records (Book F, page 135), was born in Blekinge, Sweden, 30 Dec 1872, the daughter of Johanna Olsen. Mans wife, Kjersti, died in 1882 and Mans married Johanna in 1886 when Carrie would have been 14 years old so it is not unreasonable to believe that she would take the Peterson family name as her own.

3. The burial record in York County, Nebraska, states that her mother was Johanna Olson.
