1. York County marriage record states that Johanna's parents were Ole Olson and Engrey Johnson. York County burial record states that her parents names were Ole Olson and Karan Ericson.

2. Mans and Johanna may have had at least one child of their own between 1900 and 1910 (Troy County, Nebraska Census of 1910). No further information has been found. Karna (called Carrie after her arrival in the United States) was Johanna's daughter by a previous liaison in Sweden. According to sources, the name of the father in the parish birth record had been left blank but there was no notation that this was an illegitimate birth which would have been expected. It is not clear when they immigrated to the United States.
