"Funeral services for June Wardwell Whitcomb, 55, who died Wednesday in the M.H.M. Hospital after a long illness, will be held in the First Congregational Church of Woodstock Saturday at 2 p.m., the Rev. David Johnston pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Taftsville Cemetery in the spring. She was born May 27, 1921 in Wallingford, Vt. The daughter of Sumner C. and Maude Severance Wardwell. She attended Woodstock High School and later went to Beautician School in Boston, Mass. Returning to Woodstock she worked in the local Salons and opened her own Beauty Shop in Woodsstock, which she operated until her death. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock. She married Irving Whitcomb, Sept. 20, 1941, who survives her; also one daughter, Miss Suzanne Whitcomb of Quincy, Mass., one brother, Ernest Wardwell of Woodstock, 3 sisters, Mrs. Harry Berg of Ira, Vermont, Mrs. Marion Peoples, Middletown, Mass.; Mrs. Jessie Johnson of Woodstock, Vt. The family has requested that contributions in her memory be made to Woodstock Ambulance Service in care of Robert Maynes, treasurer, for a specific life saving piece of equipment.
