Mrs. Julia Elizabeth Attaway Cheeks, aged 51, wife of W. T. (Buddy) Cheeks, died at her residence, 1933 Telfair street, yesterday afternoon at 3:50 o'clock after an illness of one month.
Mrs. Cheeks had been a member of the Crawford Avenue Baptist church and was active in the religious life of the community. She was a native of Saluda county, S. C., but had lived in Augusta for a number of years.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from the Crawford Avenue Baptist church with the Rev. Thomas Walker, assisted by the Rev. G. F. Tyner, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater cemetery in Aiken county.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Cheeks is survived by one daughter, Miss Essie Louise Cheeks; four sisters, Mrs. J. Coleman, Saluda, S. C.; Mrs. Ida Campbell, Clearwater, S. C.; Mrs. Fred Huett, Warrenville, S.C.; and Mrs. W. B. Burkhalter, Bath, S. C.; four brothers, T. M. Attaway and D. E. Attaway, both of Bath; W. L. Attaway, Clearwater, and R. F. Attaway, of Augusta, and several nieces and nephews.
