D. E. Attaway Died Yesterday
Prominent Valley Citizen Will Be Buried This Afternoon at Bath
David Elmore Attaway, Sr., 80, prominent and highly esteemed resident of the Horse Creek Valley section of South Carolina, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ida Campbell, in Clearwater, S. C., yesterday morning at 12:26 o'clock after an illness of ten months.
Funeral services will be held at the Bath church this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Thomas Walker will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Farr and the Rev. Hatfield, and interment will be in Piney Grove cemetery.
Six of Mr. Attaway's grandson's will serve as active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Hamp Rucker, Frank McElhaney, John Gadd, Pat Ellenberg, Trump Beard, and Charles Rutland.
Mr. Attaway is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J. W. Coleman, Saluda, S. C.; Mrs. Ida Campbell, Clearwater, S. C.; Mrs. W. T. Cheeks, Augusta; Mrs. Fred Hewitt, Warrenville, and Mrs. W. B. Burckhalter, Bath S. C.; four sons, T. M. Attaway, Bath; D. E. Attaway, Jr., Bath; W. L. Attaway, Clearwater; and R. F. Attaway, of Augusta; 37grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
