His store records reveal that rental forbusiness firms at the time was from $12 to $15 a month; best clerks werepaid $12.00 a week, and stores were open six evenings a week. Clerks inthis store during part of that time were Charles Wells and JudsonRitter, who later operated grocery stores of their own on West Maumee."
