When Jost Schönauer was born in 1707 in Bern, Switzerland, his father, Jost, was 35 and his mother, Catherina, was 30. He married Catharine Schlegel in 1754. They had four children during their marriage. He died on May 19, 1777, in Cumru, Pennsylvania, at the age of 70, and was buried in Berks, Pennsylvania.
