This is a working page in a study of the Porter Families of Old Chester County, PA. Josias Porter is commonly identified as the father of James Porter who died in Old Chester County in 1778. As far as can be seen from currently available data, Josias never left Ireland, but at least two of his children (James and sister Rachel) came to Old Chester County at an indeterminate date. Family relationships in the diagram below are inferred from examining Ancestry Family Trees for James and his sister Rachel. Relationship lines in "bold black" indicate confirmed identifications based on James Will. Lines in "plain black" are based on Ancestry results that seem probable. Dashed lines are inferred but evidence given to support them is slight to non-existent. Dotted lines indicate relationships sometimes put forward, but for varying reasons are considered to be unlikely, or for which the evidence is too tenuous to accept with greater confidence.
