"2-1 Josiah Owen2 (John1), was born at Windsor 8 Sept. 1651 and died there 11 Sept. 1722. … Josiah Owen moved from Windsor to Simsbury in 1682, where he became one of the proprietors. From 1679 on, numerous grants and conveyances of land to and from him are entered in the Simsbury records. In May 1686 he was propounded for 'freeman' and in Oct 1686 he was so accepted by the General Court. The baptisms in Simsbury of Isaac, Mary, Abigail, Elizabeth, John, and Rachel, children of Josiah Owen of Windsor, are recorded in the church records in 1698 by Rev. D. Woodbridge. About 1697 Josiah Owen returned to Windsor, where he lived until his death, which is recorded there. In his will he names his wife, Sarah; Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Case of Simsbury; Mary, wife of Enoch Phelps of Windsor; Rachel, wife of Samuel Phelps of Windsor; Abigail, wife of Samuel Clark of Simsbury; Josiah Owen, and John Owen."
