Per Littell, this family lived at Williams Farm, which was three miles west of Elizabeth, NJ. J. Mc Clatchy (a descendant) identifies that he was a teamster in the Revolutionary War. He is listed on the 1755 Elizabethtown Freeholder list. May be the Joshua Concklin on the 1778 tax list from Rahway Ward of Elizabeth, NJ. A Clermont County History (Ohio) also says was private in state militia as a teamster in Rev War.

He is probably a brother or cousin of Joseph Conkling who married Mary Cory.
