Jean MCNAIR was also known as Jane MCNAIR. She married 14jan1806 in Glasgow (R. Stephenson) Joseph SCOTT, a Glasgow merchant (family letters). Joseph SCOTT was probably christened 24aug1784 in Glasgow and died after 1815; he was in 1807 a merchant at 7 Queen St., Glasgow (R. Stephenson). In family letters there is mention of Joseph Scott, merchant of Scoot and Balmanno. In the will of the mother, Margaret McNair nee Barton (drawn up 11oct1826, National Archives) Jane McNair, now deceased, and Joseph Scott, merchant in Glasgow, are mentioned.
