Facts and Events
Per descendent postings on Morrow-L boards, Joseph S. left his wife and kids before 1860 and went to California. His grandchildren in Arizona indicated that he married a woman in California and had several more children. There was no mention of a divorce. [edit] DNA FindingsBecause of Joseph's origins in Greene County, Illinois, he has historically been placed as a son of William Morrow, m. Jane, died 1846 in Greene Co, IL. The location plus the fact that Joseph named one his sons "Zachariah Allen", both names repeatedly used in the Greene County Morrow family, suggests that he was related to them. However, he was not considered a son of William: William's son William (Jr.) died without a will in 1840, and his estate was distributed among his siblings--of which Joseph was not one. Moreover, DNA of three descendants matches each other, but not a descendant of William's son Jesse. Instead, the descendant who tested 67 markers matches almost exclusive "Bray" descendants, a common family in Orange County, North Carolina. References
