1918 Sept. Lydia's son Roy died at Camp Dix, NJ. He was survived by his parents and one sister, Miss Estella Massey, all of Burlington, 3 half-brothers, Joseph, John, and I.Z. all of Woodson Co., and 18 nieces and nephews.*

  • Joseph had 9 children at this time if all were living; Isaac had 6; John has not been found after 1910; their sister Sarah's children, if any, are not known.

obituary from a Coffey Co., KS, newspaper: SERVICES HELD FOR / MRS MARY JANE MASSEY

 Services for Mary Jane Massey were conducted at the Johnson Chapel in Yates Center, Friday, January 14 at 2 p.m. in charge of Miles Cook, former minister of the local Christian church.  "Beyond The Sunset" and "In The Garden" were sung by Mrs Fowler Kesterson with Mrs Vesta Wood at the piano.  Casket bearers were Ray McKinney, Fred Diver, Glen Harding, Fred Ryser, C. L. Weide and W. E. Etter.  Interment was in Askern cemetery.
 Mary Jane Mozingo, daughter of John Thomas Mozingo, was born at Greensbury [Greensboro, Henry Co.?], Ind., November 13, 1875 and departed this life at the Divers' nursing home, January 12, 1955, at the age of 79 years and two months.
 She came with her parents to Kansas at an early age, settling in the Crandall neighborhood.  She was united in marriage with Joseph Mark Massey at Iola, Kan., August 5, 1895.  To this union 11 children were born.  Her husband and her oldest daughter preceded her in death.  Surviving children are William O. Massey, Ralph Massey and Theodore Massey of Yates Center; Clifford Massey and Donald Massey of Emporia; Glen Massey of Waverly; Howard Massey of Wichita; Earl Massey with the armed forces at Munich, Germany; Mrs Edith  Newman of Coffeyville, and Mrs Lola Hammett of Parsons.  Sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one brother, Henry Mozingo of Parsons also survive.
 She became a Christian and united with the Christian church at Crandall in 1897.  The principles of Christianity were exemplified in her daily life by her unselfish and sacrificial service rendered to her loved ones and a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will long remember the beauty of her life.
