Lydia Love Massey wrote her sister Jane Love: "perhaps it will surprise you to hear that Siss is maried but I find it to be so / it took Place the 10 of March and his name is Isaac Massey . . . wee are on the Same Place he used to Live on when Caroline was Living / Ike has 4 children / Lizie 18 Joe 15 Johni 11 Zeb 6 but he was give a way by his mother to her brother Levi / John will not be home this summer only Joe" 1886 April 27, Burlington, Coffey Co., KS. Lydia wrote her sister Jane: "Johnie will come home in the fall / he was home to day / wants to come now / the ? aint good to him but her his ?3 will tr to stay this time out" 1887 Feb. 15, Gridley, Coffey Co., KS. NEWLAN, head, M W 59, md. 32 yrs., IL OH IN, farmer, general farm, works on own account; Alice M., wife, F W 49, mother of 1 child, [blank] living, IN -- IN. 1918 Sept. Lydia's son Roy died at Camp Dix, NJ. He was survived by his parents and one sister, Miss Estella Massey, all of Burlington, 3 half-brothers, Joseph, John, and I.Z. all of Woodson Co., and 18 nieces and nephews.*
1920 census, John W. Massey has not been located 1922 June, John lived in Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS. He assigned his share of his father's estate to Anna R. Searles in 1924.
