1887 Feb. 15, Gridley, Coffey Co., KS. Lydia wrote her sister Jane: "wee are all stiring but John / he is trying to have the measles" Continued Feb. 25: "well John is over the measles and Joe taking them . . . Ike and Johnie are hauling out Manure to day / they say it is hard Work"

1918 Sept. Lydia's son Roy died at Camp Dix, NJ. He was survived by his parents and one sister, Miss Estella Massey, all of Burlington, 3 half-brothers, Joseph, John, and I.Z. all of Woodson Co., and 18 nieces and nephews.*

• Joseph had 9 children at this time if all were living; Isaac had 6; John has not been found after 1910; their sister Sarah's children, if any, are not known.

1920 census, John W. Massey has not been located

1922 June, John lived in Neodesha, Wilson Co., KS. He assigned his share of his father's estate to Anna R. Searles in 1924. Who is she?

1926 Feb. 24, although not identified by name, "three step-sons" survived Lydia Love Massey
