John Gongaware, son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Whitehead) Gongaware, lived at Hannastown, Pennsylvania. On June 6, 1850 , he married Rebecca Ann Ridinger, daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Chester) Ridinger, issue Jacob Ridinger and Josiah, both mentioned hereinafter. John Gongaware removed to Indianapolis, Indiana, with his wife, and while on a trip back to his old home fell dead from heart disease at the small town of Penlinger, Indiana, March 23, 1855. His remains are interred at that place. Eventually his widow returned to Sewickly Township, and later married John Anderson, by whom she had six children. After Mr. Anderson's death she married Finley Shaner, without issue. She died about 1898.
