15.4 Jonas(3) AMSPAUGH (Katherine2, John1) was born Dec 1831 in Hocking Co., Oh., the son o f John AMSPAUGH and Katherine RITTGERS. On 1850 Census, age 18, with widowed mother Marion T wp., Hocking Co., Oh.[p 6 fam #182/187] He married Barbara DOUBENMIRE 3 Dec 1854 in Hocking C o., Oh.[HVRM, Bk "B", p. 215, Jonas "Ambaugher" & Barbara "Doubenmire] She was born Jan 183 6 in Ohio[1900 census]. The 1860 census shows Jonas "Omspaugh", age 26, in Lancaster, Fairfie ld Co. He is a day laberor with $50 in personal estate and no property. With him is wife Barb ary, 24, and three children.[p 28 fam #397/389] On 1870 census, age 39, farmer in Marion Twp , Hocking Co., Oh., with $700 in Real Estate and $300 in personal property. Wife Barbary, ag e 34, and six children are also in the home.[p 507 fam #230/233] In 1880, this family is in G reenfield Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh. Jonas, 48, and Barbara 44, have with them 8 children an d one grandchild, son of daughter, Barbara Ellen.[p 142 fam #110/115] On the 1900 census, Jac kson Twp., Darke Co., Oh., Jonas, 68, and Barbara, 64, have been married 45 years. Barbara h as born 11 children, 8 alive at this time. They live with daughter Sarah, 32, and her husband , George Weiss.[ED 59, p 4B, fam #75/75] In 1910, Jonas, 78, and Barbara, 73, are shown in th eir own home 107 Chestnut St., Union, Jackson Twp., Darke Co., Oh.[ED 93, p 5A, fam # 122/126 ] In 1920, Barbara is a widow, living there with her widowed daughter, Louisa RITTGERS, wido w of Joseph Rittgers, (#112.2)[ED 108, p 13, fam #303/303] Jonas died 6 Jan 1911.
