15.6 Daniel(3) AMSPAUGH (Katherine2, John1) was born about 1837 in Hocking Co., Oh., the so n of John AMSPAUGH and Katherine RITTGERS. On 1850 census with mother, Catherine (Rittgers ) Amspaugh, Marion Twp., Hocking Co., Oh, age 13. [p 6 fam #182/187] He married Margaret (_ _) DEFENBAUGHER 29 Jan 1856 in Hocking Co., Oh.[HVRM, Book "B", p. 237] She was born about 18 38 in Ohio. Name also given in records as "Daubenmire." The 1860 census shows Daniel, 23 , a farmer with $1800 in real estate and $500 in personal estate. Wife Margaret is 29. It s hows them with two children, Barbary, age 10, and Rosann, age 7, both born in Ohio. Margare t must have been married previously, as these children born prior to this marriage. We also s ee three children born within this marriage.[p 166 fam #1133/1128] 1870 census shows Daniel A mspaugh, age 33, a farmer, with wife Margaret, age 32. (Note there is a seven year discrepanc y in the two census records) They have six children with them. Barbary and Rosann aren't o n the 1870 census.[p 503 fam #166/169] .
