Overview

John B. Walker had a pattern of extensive migration throughout his life. He likely had a large number of children. Unfortunately, the current records of these children are scarce. Secondary sources state Minerva Adkins Walker was a daugher, and her obituary fits the desciption of John B. Walker's migration. An unknown source claims the middle name was "Barnett." This is a reasonable possibility given the common tradition of naming children after the mother's family. Land transactions show he migrated with his brothers to Bedford County, Tennessee in the 1810s. In the 1820's, he sold in his land in Tennessee and moved to Jackson County, Alabama where he was a Justice of the Peace[2]. It is unclear where he resided for the next twenty years, but census records suggest[3][4] that he migrated to the regions near the border of Arkansas and Missouri. He likely died somewhere in the vincinity of Barry County, Missouri where the last known census record of him exists in 1850[5]
