Date of birth given in the 1850 census was "1834". The date given in the 1981 Sallie Lee DeWitt Genealogy, and reported as being read from the tombstone at Lowe's Creek Cemetery, is 1 February 1844. I tend to think the census date was the more unreliable of the two.
