Notes for JOHN SNAPP: Johannes Snapp, age 12, arrived with his parents aboard the Ship Samuel in August 1733. He became a Naturalized citizen at Winchester, VA, Frederick County Order Book 2, at page 194 in May 1746. In April 1750 he obtained a survey for 400 acres along Little North Mountain. He also obtained a survey of 315 acres 21 May 1753 on the head branches of Hogs Creek & Cedar Creek adjacent John Dyer with patent granted 17 May 1762. (Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants, Vol II, Book G). He also received his father's 400 acre farm in 1762.

He was a foot soldier in the French and Indian War in Captain Lewis Stephens Company of Frederick County. He was discharged September 2, 1755 (Frederick County Militia Records Book 18).

His will was written August 20, 1786, and it was probated on December 6, 1786 (Frederick County Will Book "5", at page 152.) In his will, John Jr left 400 acres to his son Jacob, another 400 acres to his son, Joseph, and the 315 acre tract to his daughter, Catherine Spelman.

John Snapp Jr. (b. 1721 c.) had 400 acres on drains of Cedar Funk Jr. Creek adjacent to his father's 400-acre tract surveyed on 20 April 1750. John Jr. was living on this tract at the time and received a Fairfax grant for it on 23 July 1750. The land is 114A-2, The land is located on Frederick County Highway 622/Cedar Creek Grade adjacent on, the north of his father's land. The highway is his southeast property line. The 315-acre tract is located on Frederick County Highway 616 east of Mt. Pleasant, Virginia approximately two miles : northwest of his 400-acre home place. With tghe 400 acres )Farfax grant land) he bought from his father in 1759/61, his acreage totalled 1,115.

John Jr. was deceased by 6 December 1786 when his will (dated 20 August 1786) was proved in Frederick County Court. He bequeathed the dwelling house to his wife Katherine for use during her natural life. He willed 400 acres (23 July 1750 Fairfax grant) to his son Jacob. He also wilIed that Jacob pay three pounds to each of his grandchildren (Elizabeth and Joseph Cackley) when they come of age. He bequeathed the 400 acres (14 July 1750 Fairfax grant) where he was living to his son Joseph. He also willed that Joseph pay his grandchild Katherine Hotsenpela six pounds when she arrives at the age of 18. He willed the 315-acre tract between the head of Cedar Creek and branch of Hoggs Creek to his daughter Catherine Spelman. He bequeathed three pounds to his grandson Abraham Snapp (when he comes of age -- 21) and 10 shillings to his daughter Barbara Jones. He appointed his two sons Jacob and Joseph as executors.
