    QUAY 3 "SHAY - John Shay of Merrill died Saturday [Sep. 23] at St. Mary's hospital after a long illness. He was taken to the hospital two weeks ago. Born in 1861 in Orillia, Ont., Mr. Shay came to Reese in 1883 and later moved to Merrill, where he spent the rest of his life on his farm. Surviving are the widow, six daughters, Mrs. Francis Garvey of Saginaw, Mrs. Fred Clements of Detroit. Miss May Shay of Detroit, Mrs. Leo Kalahar of Traverse City, Mrs. Edward Burns of Mikado and Mrs Howaard Hatzenbuhler of Mt. Clemens and three sons, Daniel Shay of Detroit and John Shay Jr., and Joseph of Merrill. Funeral Services will take place at 8:30 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart church in Merrill. Rev. Fr. W. J. Wynn will officiate. Burial will be in Lakefield Sacred Heart cemetery."
