    Mr. John M. "Punk' Schultheiss, 84, of Middletown, Ohio, died peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, July 14, 1999, after a prolonged illness, cared for by family and friends.
    He was born on May 21, 1915, in Monroe, Ohio, the son of Emanuel and Frances (Fogarty) Schultheiss. "Punk" was a longtime resident of Monroe and had been a bus driver for the Lemon-Monroe School System. In later years, he was employed as a mechanic with the Ohio Department of Transportation from which he retied in 1980.
    Mr. Schultheiss was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving as a rifleman in the 4th Infantry Division.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Ruth Schultheiss; and two brothers, Richard and Lawrence Schultheiss, all of Monroe. He is survived by his son and daugher-in-law, Karl and Cecilia Schultheiss of Middletown; a son, Kenneth Schultheiss of Monroe; a grandson, Richard Schultheiss of Middletown; a granddaughter, Katrina Henson (Husband Jeff) of Monroe, three great-granddaughters; and a sister-in-law, Helen Schultheiss of Monroe.
    Arrangements: Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, with Deacon Tom Doyle officiating. Burial will be in North Monroe Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5 to 7pm Friday at the funeral home.
