John Savil left a will dated Nov.2,1687, proved Feb.2,1691 mentioning wife Mehitable and only son John and daughter Mehitable. Thomas Metcalf proved the will in behalf of his wife the executor.He is mentioned in town records only as an abutter on land formerly flowed by the mill pond, but this shows his land to have been in 1685 on present Granite St. Quincy, north of Fort Square. He was made freeman Jul.9,1684.John Savil was admitted to full communion at Church Jun.15,1684, and Mehitable his wife on Dec.17,1685. He was a joiner as his death record calls him. He is listed as one of the original settlers of Mendon in 1663.S.P.8-25: Will of John Savil, Nov.1687: Executrix to sell my part of ketch of which Samuel Veasey is master. Improvement of all estate to wife Mehitable while a widow. To only son John Savell dwelling house, shop & barn & land where they stand & land near Moses Belcher & 3 a. marsh in Broad Meadows given me by my father. To dau. Mehitabel Savell pasture land adjoining Henry Neale & 6 a. swamp & meadow "bot" of William Veazey, etc. Wife Mehitabel executrix with Dea. Samuel Tompson & Steven Paine Jr. to assist.Witness: Thomas Bass, Christopher Webb Jr., Christopher Webb Sr.Feb.2,1690/1, Tho. Medcalf who married Mehitabell Savell with the witnesses swore to it.
