JOHN ROOT, son of John (361), grandson of Joseph (351), b. Sept. 9, 1690, at Farmington, Ct. ; m. Dec. 9, 1714, Martha (Orvice) Hunn, widow of Nathaniel Hunn. He settled in Southington, on the place now occupied by Mr. Washburn Dunham, and probably lived in the same house. In the survey of the first highway that was laid through the town (June, 1722) the house of John Root is mentioned on the high
ground south of the river. It is now in Plainville. He d. 1767.
